I declare summer officially here

Back in May I noted the arrival of pre-summer, hot water coming from from the 'cold' tap.

But humidity was low, so it doesn't count as the start of the Dubai summer.

Today I had proof that the real summer is here.

As I walked from an air-conditioned building into the sunshine I put my sunglasses on.

Instant steam up for zero visibility. The first time this year.

Heat and humidity. Summer's here.

A late encounter I guess, I started to get sweaty all around my body from last week.

I wish you a happy Dubai summer.

For what it's worth, it arrived one day earlier in Doha. The heat's been here since May but yesterday was the first real turkish bath day. Oh well, only another 11 weeks...

Summer isn't too bad in NYC, so far this year. Hot, not humid and the thunderstorms / rain, never end. It's the summer tourist folk who annoys everyday New Yorkers :)

BTW, the best time to visit NYC and the North East is closer to / or during fall. The airfares, hotel rates are lower - far less people and the beautiful foliage helps relax / be thankful. Summer is perhaps the least desirable time to visit this city, IMO.

30s and really humid in Barcelona. Kind of like a mini Dubai, we reckon, but without the blasting, freezing airconditioning.

Hi Seabee, It does get quite hot there. I have just accepted an offer in Dubai and will be getting there soon, leaving Sydney. Could you drop me a line so I can get your opinion on something?

Webmack, my e-mail address is in my Profile here, just send your questions and I'll do my best to answer.

Chatting with friends in Sydney yesterday and they complained about the cold - you'll sure notice the difference if you come here in the summer!
